One of the long-standing reasons that fans stick with Android over iOS is because of the customization the platform allows. Especially with Google really leaning into this concept with its Material You design effort, Android can look, feel, and operate in pretty much any way a user wants. Although Apple has finally started to give iOS users a semblance of control with the ability to move around icons and change their colors (such courage), there’s simply no denying that Android is the far more flexible operating system.

Ever since I bought my very first Android phone — a Samsung Galaxy S2, because I am a Very Old Man — I’ve toyed around with customization. It’s easy enough to install icon packs, change system colors, and install live wallpapers, and I had fun with that for a long time. However, it wasn’t until I discovered KWGT that things got really intricate.

This silly Pixel 9 camera feature has made my day over and over again

When the Pixel 9 series was announced, one of the camera features I thought I’d rarely, if ever, use was Add Me. I love standing behind the lens, not in front of it, so being forcibly added to group photos isn’t my jam. However, I quickly discovered that Add Me can be used on the same subject, which means I can stay hidden behind the lens and make my favorite photography subjects — read: my husband — begrudgingly change position in the same frame.

The results are funny clone photos that will make everyone smile, but you can use them creatively to snap photos of unlikely scenarios. Playing with a beach ball with your clone? Tanning your front side while your clone tans their back? Berating your clone in public? Anything is possible. I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the silliness this feature provides, but if you’re skeptical, I have a few tips to get you started.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has published his latest “Power On” newsletter, and in it he reveals a big improvement that could be coming to its location tracker. Apple is expected to launch a new AirTag next year and it’s reported that this product will have a new ultra-wideband (UWB) chip. Gurman claims that this new chip could be just as powerful as the chip introduced in the iPhone 15.

Android 15 is preventing Windows Phone Link from showing certain notifications

• Updating to Android 15 introduces a new feature that blocks untrusted apps from accessing notifications deemed to have sensitive information.
• Windows is now warning Phone Link users that because of this change, it won’t show certain notifications.
• Phone Link should be able to bypass this restriction, but it appears to only do so for Samsung devices running One UI 6.1.1 or later.

If you’re a frequent user of the Phone Link app on Windows, then you’re probably used to seeing your phone notifications mirrored on your computer. However, if you update your Android device to Android 15, you may lose the ability to see certain notifications.

(HDMI LA) is starting to inform media outlets about a significant announcement at the trade event. It’s reported that the HDMI Forum, the group behind the video and audio transmission standard, has scheduled a press conference at the show for January 6, 2025.
