    • In a blog post, Samsung executive TM Roh lays out what’s coming to the summer version of Galaxy Unpacked 2023.
    • The post makes it clear we’ll see new foldable phones, new tablets, and new smartwatches.
    • These will undoubtedly be the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Watch 6 series.

Samsung’s next big product launch is only a week away. However, the company still hasn’t officially said what we can expect to see there. Obviously, through months worth of leaks, we have a pretty good idea, but now we have an even better clue thanks to TM Roh.

Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) review: Should you buy it?

    0

Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) review: At a glance

    • What is it? The MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) is the newest laptop in Apple’s lineup and marks a return to a screen size that hasn’t existed in a few years. It brings a 15.3-inch display back to the MacBook family and pairs it with the light, fanless design that MacBook Air users have come to expect. The 15-inch MacBook Air M2 also bumps to six speakers from the 13-inch MacBook Air M2 model’s four-speaker setup.
    • What is the price? The Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) starts at $1,299 for 256GB of storage, or you can upgrade to 512GB for $1,499. Other RAM and storage configurations can also increase the cost.
    • Where can you buy it? You can buy the Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) from many of the usual suspects, including Best Buy, Amazon, and, of course, Apple itself. The laptop went on sale on June 13, a week after its announcement as part of WWDC 2023.
    • How did we test it? I tested the Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) for two weeks. Android Authority purchased the review unit.
    • Is it worth it? If you love Apple’s lightweight, efficient MacBook Air but want more real estate, this is the laptop for you. The Apple MacBook Air M2 (15-inch) has the battery life to go all day with the performance to handle everything most users will throw at it. Those of you after plenty of ports will still have to go Pro, but this MacBook Air is a master stroke for the rest of us.

Take a walk around any college campus or any coffee shop in a big city, and you’re almost guaranteed to see a MacBook Air. Maybe it’s not a shiny, new, Apple silicon-powered model, but this light, thin laptop is a go-to for just about anyone who needs to balance power and portability. However, the thing that made the MacBook Air great — its on-the-go size — also held it back for multitaskers and power users. Neither the 11-inch nor the 13-inch displays offered enough real estate for some, so the iPhone-maker finally decided to go big and introduce this — its first 15-inch MacBook Air.

Twitter vs Threads by Meta: Which social media platform is better?

    0

Meta’s Threads has been one of the most serious competitors to Twitter, and it’s seeing explosive growth as well. Meta’s new social media platform reached 100 million users in five days, which is crazy no matter how you look at it. Granted, much of the steam came from its deep integration with Instagram, but it’s still an insane milestone. But with Threads now a few weeks old, how does it actually compare to Twitter? Which microblogging social media platform should you prefer? We explore in this Threads vs Twitter faceoff!

Threads vs Twitter: What is the same?

Both Threads and Twitter are text-focused social media platforms that build on the foundation of microblogging. While both platforms can be used to post photos and videos, the primary currency of the content is text-based.

iPhone 16 Pro Max could get ‘super’ periscope telephoto

Credit: Robert Triggs / Android Authority
    • A leak suggests the iPhone 16 Pro Max could have a telephoto lens with a very high focal length.
    • A machine translation says it could be a “periscope ultra-telephoto,” suggesting a focal length over 300mm.
    • Combined with a rumored sensor increase, the telephoto could be the one to beat in 2024.

For years now, iPhones have lagged way behind Android when it comes to camera zoom. One of the main reasons for this is that many Android flagships have what’s known as periscope zoom lenses. These lenses use mechanical movements to recreate a “real” camera lens and allow for lossless zoom images.

We expect Apple to finally catch up to Android by launching the first iPhone with a periscope lens in 2023. That phone will be the iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 15 Ultra, as some rumors suggest. Now, though, we have a rumor that the 2024 top-end iPhone could bump things up even more regarding zoom. Prominent leaker Digital Chat Station (h/t MacRumors) says we can expect big upgrades for the iPhone 16 Pro Max (or iPhone 16 Ultra, take your pick).

In the new World Defense game, Space Invaders will spawn from buildings and rooftops, hide behind structures, and hover in the sky. So instead of Pokemon, you’ll be hunting for aliens. Google’s blog post says players can discover new Space Invaders in and around different neighborhoods. Players can also unlock special power-ups, team-up with other players, and share their achievements on social media with an AR selfie.

    Gotrax GXL V2 review: A budget-friendly beginner e-scooter

    0

The Gotrax GXL V2 is billed as the go-to short-distance commuter electric scooter, but does it stand up to testing? With an affordable price point, modest speeds, and simple controls, it’s easy for anyone to hop on and zip around without prior experience. However, there are some downsides to consider. Here’s a hands-on Gotrax GXL V2 review to help you decide if you should go ahead and buy it.

    Gotrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter
    $279 at Amazon
    Save $ 520.99

Gotrax GXL V2 review: At a glance

    • What is it? The Gotrax GXL V2 is a small, affordable, entry-level electric scooter. It has one 250W motor, providing 12 miles of range and a top speed of 15.5 mph.
    • What is the price? The Gotrax GXL V2 costs $399.
    • Where can you buy it? You can buy the Gotrax GXL V2 from Amazon or directly from Gotrax.
    • How did we test it? I tested the Gotrax GXL V2 for one week. Android Authority purchased the review unit.
    • Is it worth it? The Gotrax GXL V2 is a suitable electric scooter for kids, first-time riders, or those who want a compact scooter for recreational rides. It is not recommended for long-distance commutes or off-road use as there is no suspension, and the tires are small.

What I like about the Gotrax GXL V2

This upcoming transparent phone is giving us all sorts of Nothing Phone 2 vibes

    • Infinix is working on a gaming smartphone inspired by the Nothing Phone 2.
    • It features a glass back with a semi-exposed panel design.
    • The phone could be called the Infinix GT 10 Pro/Pro Plus, which is expected to launch in India in August.

Nothing is making transparent-style back designs fashionable for enthusiasts with products like the Nothing Phone 2 and Nothing Ear 2. It doesn’t surprise us that other companies are also looking to jump on board this trend. We’ve seen devices like the Unihertz Luna more closely attempting to lift off that aesthetic. Now Infinix plans to launch a transparent-style gaming phone in the form of the GT 10 Pro/Pro Plus.

The first set of leaks comes from a leaker on Weibo, sharing live images of the Infinix GT 10 Pro and GT 10 Pro Plus. We see the backs of the two phones and their About Phone page.

    • YouTube is getting a new feature called Stable Volume in the video settings.
    • The feature is expected to even out the volume across videos on YouTube.
    • It hasn’t been rolled out to all YouTube users yet.

It seems YouTube is rolling out a new “Stable Volume” feature on its app. The platform hasn’t said what the feature does, and it doesn’t look like everyone has it just yet. The feature was spotted by a few folks, including a Redditor and YouTuber M. Brandon Lee. It reportedly appears under the Ambient mode option on the video settings page.

The best ChatGPT plugins to unlock a smarter and more capable chatbot

    0

When the world got its first taste of ChatGPT, the chatbot’s potential seemed endless. But it didn’t take long for everyone to find its limits. For example, you may have heard that ChatGPT only knows about events prior to 2021 and that it can’t search the internet for up-to-date information. In the meantime, rivals like Bing Chat and Google Bard have tried to fill in the gaps. But with the release of ChatGPT’s plugin feature, we can now fix most of the chatbot’s limitations and make it even more capable. So without wasting any more time, here’s a quick list of the best ChatGPT plugins available today.

    The best ChatGPT plugins

First, it’s worth going over how you can enable and use plugins in ChatGPT. Plugins are currently a value-added feature, excluded from the free version of the chatbot. So in other words, you’ll need to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus to browse the plugin section. The subscription also gives you access to the more advanced GPT-4 language model, which significantly improves the quality of responses.

An accident is unfortunate on the best of days. But getting into one in a foreign land where language barriers are high is a very different challenge. A few months back, I got into a road accident in Vietnam, and if it weren’t for the best language translation app — Google Translate — I’m confident I’d have needed assistance from the local embassy and maybe even medical evacuation.

These are my favorite headphones for rock climbing

    Lily Katz

Plenty of earbuds are geared toward running, weightlifting, and even swimming. Despite rock climbing’s meteoric rise and celebrity status, few earbuds and headphones are suitable for the sport. I’ve reviewed hundreds of audio products, and the Shokz OpenRun are the best headphones for rock climbing in my opinion.

    Shokz OpenRun
    Shokz OpenRun
    • Leaves ears unoccluded
    • Fast charging battery
    • IP67 rating

The Shokz OpenRun bone-conduction headphones leave the ears unoccluded and produce a decent sound. They have an IP67 rating and a fast-charging battery.

Anyone familiar with rock climbing knows that you use a lot of chalk. The chalk absorbs excess moisture from your hands, making it easier to grip holds. As you can imagine, chalk doesn’t just stay on your hands. It gets everywhere.

Anker’s magnetic wireless battery saved me during a busy vacation

These days, whenever I’m about to fly back home to Lebanon, I spend an hour lining up my chargers, power banks, and USB-C cables, and deciding what my best charging strategy will be. Sure, having a good multi-port wall charger and a car charger is essential, but the country has electricity problems, so portable chargers are non-negotiable too.

The problem is even more complicated when I factor in hopping between four different homes in less than a week, packing and unpacking daily, being on the go most of the day, and frequent electrical blackouts at night. It doesn’t help that I have the most notoriously slow flagship to charge — a Pixel 7 Pro. And so does my husband.

Microsoft has dominated the tech news cycle in recent months, thanks to its $10 billion investment in ChatGPT creator OpenAI and a flurry of new releases like Bing Chat. The Redmond giant isn’t stopping there either as it’s now poised to roll out a new AI-powered assistant in its office suite. Dubbed Microsoft 365 Copilot, the feature will automate tasks like writing emails, summarizing meetings, and even making beautiful PowerPoint presentations. All of this may sound too good to be true, but Microsoft’s early demos look promising.

I’ve run out of patience with the Pixel Tablet as a smart hub

    Opinion post by
    Rita El Khoury

A month ago, when I unboxed the Google Pixel Tablet and installed it in my kitchen as a replacement for my second-generation Nest Hub, I knew I was making a gamble. The kitchen is a shared space and, since my husband cooks more often than I do, he uses the Nest Hub more. And he doesn’t like frustrating technology. I, on the other hand, am a little more forgiving of beta products and unfinished functionality. I was aware of the Pixel Tablet’s limitations and knew that it had an uphill battle to win him over.

Last week, after many frustrating attempts to make it work, my husband simply unplugged the Pixel Tablet’s dock, silently brought it to my desk, took the Nest Hub back, and peace was restored in the kitchen. I couldn’t argue with him because even I had grown impatient. The Pixel Tablet will, admittedly, need many updates before it can work for us as a hub for our smart home setup. Until then, it’s lost the battle to the much cheaper, underpowered, but more reliable Nest Hub.

The cheapest countries to buy a MacBook Pro

    0

In our review of the 2023 MacBook Pro, we described it in the headline as rapidly approaching perfection. It’s undoubtedly a state-of-the-art laptop, but it has an eye-watering price tag compared to alternative laptops. At $1,999 for even the cheapest variant, you may feel it’s beyond your budget. But what if you could get it for significantly less in another part of the world? We’ve looked into the cheapest place to buy a MacBook Pro.

We’ll only be looking at the base model prices of the most recent MacBook Pro for the purposes of this comparison. That means the 14- and 16-inch devices with the M2 Pro chip, 512GB storage, and 16- or 19-core GPU. To perform the comparison on other variants of this device and even other MacBook models would be very taxing on your valuable time. And, in any event, the general trend is that the cheaper countries for one model of the MacBook Pro are similarly ranked on the price scale for the others.
