One of the biggest Samsung Galaxy S11 rumors is that the 2020 flagship series will receive a 108MP main camera and a 5x zoom shooter. This could make it one of the more impressive camera platforms of 2020, but it looks like Samsung might be spreading the love to its upcoming foldable too.
According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the plans, Samsung is indeed planning to offer a 108MP camera and a 5X zoom sensor on the Galaxy S11 series. It notes that the Galaxy S11 will sport a total of four cameras and a depth sensor on the rear.
But Bloomberg‘s sources also say the 108MP sensor and 5x optical zoom camera are coming to Samsung’s upcoming clamshell foldable phone. The sources say that the new foldable phone is expected to be revealed at roughly the same time as the Galaxy S11’s February launch.
Samsung previously teased a clamshell foldable phone concept at its developer conference back in October. But it’s unclear whether this will be called the Galaxy Fold 2, whether it will have a different name in the Galaxy Fold series, or a different name altogether.
Either way, it looks like the Motorola Razr won’t be the only clamshell foldable phone in early 2020. And if the Samsung device does wind up with this 108MP and 5X zoom camera setup, it’ll blow Motorola’s device out of the water for camera flexibility alone (the Razr only has a 16MP rear camera).
