Samsung‘s trade-in program is usually pretty generous compared to other Android brands, but the company’s latest initiative is a standout offering too.
Samsung has quietly announced a 50% guaranteed buyback program for the Galaxy S20 series (h/t: Droid-Life). Simply buy your Galaxy S20 device on Samsung.com, enrol in the program, and you can send the device back to Samsung within 24 months and get 50% cash back on the full retail price. So that means $500 back if you buy the base model and $700 back for the Ultra variant.
The Korean manufacturer says the device needs to be returned in a satisfactory condition for users to be eligible for cashback. That means it turns on and holds a charge, doesn’t have a defective or cracked screen, and has no “breaks or cracks” in the case.
This might be a great alternative to selling your device on the second-hand market. In fact, one recent report found that the Galaxy S10 Plus lost almost 50% of its value by the end of 2019. So you could potentially get more cash via Samsung after two years than selling it on the second-hand market.
It could also be ideal for people wanting to jump ship from Samsung instead of simply trading in their phone for the next Galaxy device. This way, you get a good chunk of change for a Google Pixel phone, OnePlus device, or a handset from any other brand.
